Free Philosophy 'renewed hope in a jar' samples

It looks like Philosophy are giving away samples of 'renewed hope in a jar'. I have tried this in Sephora but would love to try it again at home.

I am in love with the 'amazing grace' eu de toilette by Philosophy, which I picked up in December. It is described on the website as:

"the amazingly clean and beautifully feminine fragrance features welcoming bergamot to greet the senses, irresistibly soft, clean muguet blossoms and lasting musk with its classic beauty".

I have to say, this is different from my usual choices of perfume, but I love how elegant this makes me feel. You can buy it in a 15ml size which is perfect for testing out before you buy the big one! But trust me...you will need the bigger one!

Back to the free samples...I signed up - hope it works for you too!

Also, if you sign up for email alerts, they will send you a free gift with any $25 purchase.

Cushion Foundation Review - Loreal True Match Lumi Cushion

I searched high and low over the past few weeks to find this foundation! I have watched several reviews on YouTube and could not wait to try it for myself! I did eventually find this at my local CVS store, it's either new and not everywhere yet or just SOLD OUT!

So, the first thing I did was apply the foundation using a Beauty Blender ('cause this is what the vloggers say to do). I really didn't like what I saw...the foundation looked wet, not luminous and not thoroughly covered like I had seen in other reviews.

I decided to try again the next day using the sponge applicator that comes with the foundation (usually I don't keep these things!). I have to say the product looked much better this time. It gave a smooth finish but seemed super sheer - it just didn't cover as well as my usual foundation.

So I tried again the next day using my new favorite brush, the It Cosmetics Airbrush Blurring Foundation Brush; this time the coverage looked flawless. To cover up redness and blemishes, I used a tiny amount on my beauty blender and tapped over these areas gently, then blended with my foundation brush. It does take a little while to dry and I like to cover up any areas that get oily with powder.

I have to say I kept catching my reflection throughout the day and I couldn't believe how glowing my skin was! This was without any highlighter or luminous primer, which I usually apply most days.

I have to say - I still don't love this product as much as my Maybelline Fit Me foundation but it really is a great drugstore foundation. The price is a little high for the quality but I understand its a new thing.

Thumbs up Loreal!

Nivea In Shower vs Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizers

Full review of Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion and Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer

This month I received samples of each moisturizer in the two January Target Beauty Boxes. I have never been interested in purchasing these items but as they were samples in the very affordable box ($7!), of course I was going to try them!

The Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion allows you to apply the lotion as you are showering - I used it towards the end of my shower, applying it all over and then rinsing briefly before getting out.

It did make my skin feel moisturized, but it basically felt like I was putting on lotion in the shower. I definitely feel I get better results from a regular lotion after I shower (I tend to use either Nivea Cocoa Butter or Jergens original as a day-to-day lotion).

The Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer is to be applied after you turn off the shower but when your skin is still wet. I apply as soon as I turn the shower off (it is winter after all!) and then gently towel dry my skin so not to wipe off the product.

I feel like my skin absorbed the Jergens product much better and I actually felt like I had used a regular moisturizer on dry/just showered skin.

I LOVE a time-saver, but I don't think I'll be rushing to buy either of these products. I really think a regular out-of-shower lotion works better. I will however continue to use them on days when I am short on time, until I run out of the samples!

Battle of the Maybelline Fit Me foundations!

For the last year my favorite foundations have been the Benefit Play Sticks and the Benefit Hello Flawless oxygen wow!. For 2016, I want to find a drugstore foundation that lives up to these great products.

Full review of Maybelline Fit Me foundations. Dewy and Smooth and Shine-Free and Balance Stick.

I read various reviews and decided to try the Maybelline Fit Me line. I went for the dewy & smooth over the matte and poreless as I have found the matte foundations make my skin look really  dry and just haven't worked for my skin type. They also have a stick version which I hoped would live up to my Play Stick.

The dewy & smooth is fabulous! I apply it with a beauty blender which gives a much better finish than a foundation brush. I apply an extra coat around my chin, forehead and cheeks to fill in pores and cover any blemishes.

This foundation evens my skin tone perfectly. It covers redness and blemishes, but doesn't look thick or caked on. I would say it is sheer to medium coverage but is buildable if you like a heavier look. I love the smell of this foundation too! It reminds me of baby powder.

The stick foundation is not as creamy as the Benefit version. I feel like it doesn't cover as well as the liquid version but is great for when I'm in a rush and don't need to look super flawless. I use a brush to apply which seems to work better than the beauty blender.

Overall the Fit Me range is a great drugstore alternative to high end foundations. I have previously used the concealer which has been compared to the Nars Creamy Concealer. I personally don't think it has the same formulation but it definitely covers to a similar standard.

Let me know if you want me to compare any other drugstore foundations! I am posting daily on Instagram, @thebeautytipple.

Mascara Review: Revlon Ultimate All-In-One

Full review of revlon ultimate all in one mascara.

I've been receiving the Target Beauty Box for a few months now and have been so impressed with the value!

Sadly this month's box had a disappointing mascara. I was sceptical as soon as I opened the tube. The brush was small, rubbery, but having long lashes, I figured it could work.

The mascara didn't make my lashes longer, it looked clumpy and just didn't live up to my other favorite drug store mascaras.

Sorry Revlon! This is one for the bin.
